As presented in our feature ‘Unveiling of the capsules: The worldwide web of Amniote Editions explained’,  Amniote Editions is a mixed media platform co-run by label heads Tanya Akinola aka T-N and DJ Mama Snake. Steered by an underground ethos, the label has again called on Intellagama (Hasvat Informant/Mike Blyth), a prolific producer based and beacon of Naarm’s techno scene. Having previously featured on the imprint through various VA compilations and a solo EP - HgB-8 - Proof of Assets - the Reciprocate EP highlights an ongoing synergy between label and artist.

Away from his own portfolio, Intellagama has collaborated with venues in Naarm to help create more accessible spaces, most notable, his work on a ‘Venue Accessibility Plan’ at Sub Club. “Oftentimes people with disabilities do not attend events with the assumption that there won’t be a suitable bathroom or are unable to discern if the venue has stairs on entry,” he said said. The accessibility plan (located on the clubs website) details everything from transport to the venue, dimensions of the spaces inside the club, what to expect from a sensory perspective and how to locate the accessible entrance. Since then, other venues in the city have done similar work, even those with architectural limitations which Intellagama says is, “still great that they’re openly disclosing what their venue does and doesn’t provide.”

Reciprocate [Hbf-9] further develops the sound that Intellagama has become known for, a blend of elements both old and new in a heavily layered arrangement. Our premiere pick, Stretch Bollard underpins the entire EP’s approach to unapologetic, dance floor techno deftly infused with brooding undertones.
