On Dyadica, Aawadh conducts a focused study in rhythm, moving fluidly through drum and bass inflexions, split-tempo sensations and atmospheric end sequences. Released via Norway’s nature-attuned label Annulled Music, the album layers diasporic percussion with sci-fi-leaning sound design, building a propelling continuum that feels both tactile and transportive.
Aawadh is the alias of French DJ and producer JC Laurent, whose recent work explores the intersection of polyrhythmic elements and spatial sound design. Early releases on Budapest’s Techlab and Tbilisi’s Aneelhi Records signalled a shift toward more rhythmically intricate and exploratory forms, which fully take shape on Dyadica.
The album arrives on Annulled Music, the Norwegian label known for its deep and nature-inflected approach to techno. Since 2014, Annulled has cultivated a distinct sonic identity that leans into atmosphere and percussive nuance, hosting artists like Aerae, Refracted, Qeel, and K.O.P. 32. With its motto “Techno from Nature,” the label continues to trace lines between the organic and the synthetic, often blurring them entirely.
Minimal Collective’s premiere cut, Oscillia, locks into a driving rhythm. Aawadh builds the track around a punchy kick and layered wooden percussion, letting organic textures steer the momentum. Sci-fi-tinted elements stretch across the mix without pulling attention from the drumwork. It’s a track built for full-body engagement, precise, physical, and deeply tuned to movement.
