From doof raves to club nights, amuwa and Pure Space share similar roots, deeply embedded in Australia's electronic scene. That longstanding connection now culminates in his debut on the Sydney-based label. Variance Model is a four-track EP that dives deep into rhythm while maintaining the psychedelic core characteristic of Eora's sound.
Over the past decade, amuwa has developed a sound shaped by both Sydney's urban landscape and the Australian bush. Australia's geographic position has long fostered close connections between like-minded artists, giving rise to adventurous collectives, daring initiatives, and a dance music ecosystem that embraces experimentation and creative freedom.
amuwa thrives within this ecosystem, whether as co-founder of the Oomytyca label alongside Tangela or as a producer in his own right. Variance Model marks a new chapter in his work while bringing together a collaboration that feels almost inevitable. Released through Andy Garvey's Pure Space, the project finds a fitting home with one of the key figures carrying the Australian sound beyond its borders through both the label's output and broadcasts on Sydney's FBi Radio.
Among Variance Model's explorations of minimalism, dub, and low-end frequencies, Minimal Collective shines a light on Nuclear Tide. Whether experienced in warehouses or amidst the untamed bush, its warped character draws you in through a stripped-back groove.
