Traced from the current of roaming sound systems and fused with the glitch logic of the net, V23 is less a label than a psychic disturbance—a DIY platform wired for sensory friction. Its debut release, V23 001, lands like a fractured communiqué from dancefloors that never asked, and never needed, permission.
V23 001 captures a collective force in motion. Across the five-track vinyl dispatch, DJ Ibon, Baarek, Nevraltik, Lookiiy, Donia, Spekki Webu, Harald Uunk, Korus, and Dantel each deliver stripped-down mechanisms of motion. Loops scorched at the edges, patterns driven by distortion, and rhythms that grind forward with tactile intent.
The record extends the momentum of V23CDVA01, a hand-assembled CD compilation that gathered a dispersed circle of friends, collaborators, and sonic anarchists exploring the outer zones of IDM, freetekno, breakcore, hardcore, and speedcore. Released just a month prior, the CD served both as a map and a means, circulating through trusted hands, fueling the construction of a custom-built V23 soundsystem, further solidifying their commitment to sustaining a nomadic ecosystem of autonomous free parties across Europe.
Recht door zee. Straight to the point. That’s how Harald Uunk’s premiere track for Minimal Collective begins. Known for working with self-built gear, including his herriebox, a piezo mic-based device that captures vibrations from resonant objects, Uunk approaches sound as something to be physically triggered and shaped in motion. Ephemera unfolds with escalating detail: sharp clicks cut through a wide, grounded thump, while a swirling trance-like current builds into a near-ecstatic release around minute five. It’s less a composition than a pressure system. Controlled, cracked open, and set loose.
