No distance without presence. No melancholy without warmth. On Me, With You, Jonnnah – aka Lyon-based producer Pierre Paumier – unspools seven textured sketches of memory, perception, and desire. Drawing from the bubbling undercurrents of trip-hop revival, he crafts grooves that don’t demand attention but earn it slowly – through rhythmic asymmetry, warm bass blooms, and momentary flashes of clarity.
Jonnnah moves like vapour between scenes – never still, never rigid, always shifting. Known for his role as head of Second End Records, his approach to production is patient, physical, and deeply melodic. On Me, With You, he finds a new home with co:clear, a Glasgow-based label that emerged from a mix and event series into a fully formed imprint in 2024.
Opening with Still Here, Playing Gtr – featuring an emotive guest turn from Pavel Milyakov aka Buttechno – the album sets its tone in ambiguity. Electronica brushes against trip-hop pacing, only to sink into pools of ambient haze. The beats stutter, stretch, and dissolve.
It’s this refusal to anchor that defines Jonnnah’s sonic identity. The premiere track 40yrs simmers in restrained melancholy, looping soft vocal cuts and metallic echoes that feel both intimate and unreachable. This is ambient for the foreground. Music that moves and ends up moving you.
co:clear’s third release is a personal, cinematic dispatch for a world in flux. Not quite dance music. Not quite ambient. Me, With You lingers in the folds.
