Shoal’s second release on Hormony Rec ‘Aureola’ characterizes the current sound of the Prague-based label collective. The Utrecht-based producer aims for the body and mind: enriched with hypnotic rhythm patterns, field recordings, drones, and sonic textures.
The EP’s side A is largely dedicated to dance floors providing driving & groovy loops. Side B is reaching a deeper atmosphere with an emphasis on broken rhythms and slow-paced beats. Shoal managed to create a fine contrast between both sides while honing the naturalistic elements of the Harmony sound throughout the whole record.
Our premiere pick is the EP opener Multiplicity, a deep and groovy track which feels both modest and rousing at the same time while guiding you to hypnotic states.
