Dense harmonics mark Gergely, the debut of Hagva—CP1 and Not Mass—on Stagno Records. As the label’s third release, it unfolds across four tracks where heavy drones set the ground and charged percussion carves pathways into deeper listening.
Hagva is a collaborative project by producers CP1 and Not Mass, both affiliated with Milan’s Evolvere collective and the label Stagno Records. Since forming in 2022, they’ve treated sound as a shared experiment, with techno at its core, constantly folding in elements of industrial, ambient, and rhythmic deconstruction. They first came to notice at Evolvere’s nights in Milan, gatherings that grew a reputation across Europe for their uncompromising energy.
Stagno Records works in the same spirit. Founded in 2024 by Luigi Cippone and Marilù Lembo, the label provides a platform for artists exploring the outer fringes of techno and post-club mutations.
With Gergely, the third entry in Stagno’s catalogue, Hagva step forward as the label’s in-house duo. Across Korath, Marianne, Khaini, and Leura, they carve dense layers of sound from heavy drones and thick harmonics, while cinematic textures stretch into deep space.
“Where this record takes you next depends entirely on the landscape of your inner world,” the label explains, before extending that thought into poetry:
{..}
Twelve kilometers down
beneath the line of this sound
the world bends
under its own weight
and listens to itself
There
where darkness has thickness
and time drips vertically
the stone does not sleep
{..}
Minimal Collective premieres Khaini. Dotted, rhythmic kicks introduce an ominous atmosphere, opening the B-side with crawling tension. As delicate percussion enters, the weight lifts, revealing a lighter current beneath. With its ambient character, the track mirrors the A-side’s opening, but unfolds as a distinct chapter of its own.
