A record about letting go, finding rhythm in uncertainty, and leaning into change. On Twin Lines, Berlin-based artist Josef Gaard drifts between trance and techno, offering three introspective cuts that balance dreamy elevation with anchored, rhythmic pull. Soon to be released via his Disgården imprint.
Over the years, Josef Gaard has honed a sound that’s as sculptural as it is fluid, shaped by self-built instruments, field recordings, and the thoughtful reworking of existing material. Based in Berlin, he’s held residencies with ambient-leaning platforms like Unrush and Vaagner, while also releasing work that leans into the physicality of the club.
His label Disgården acts as a vessel for this duality, a space where compositional detail meets percussive function. Twin Lines is only the imprint’s second release since its launch in 2023, yet it feels fully formed through its inward-facing character and technically precise execution.
Minimal Collective’s spotlight falls on the closing track Kallilt Lakhunud. Following a more techno-centric middle piece, it returns to spherical trance, featuring airy choral motifs, playful turns, and a steady percussive drive, all laced together by a grounding bassline progression. Leaning into movement and headspace, the cut offers a spacious close to a tightly crafted EP.
