Moving through the French countryside with its murky suburban landscapes and rural architecture, Lukann draws inspiration for an ecosystem of sounds. After presenting a series of tracks and two earlier EP’s, the Paris based artist lands overseas with OverMyBody. The Taipei-based label, curated by Taiwanese Producer B E N N represents experimental sounds in between dance and experiment. This synergy between Paris and Taipei results in a glitchy romance that enables Lukann to become part of Taiwan’s leftfield tide.

On Baarde, Lukann orchestrates a narrative through shifting emotional themes with ambient textures and moments of aggression in dubstep-tinged forms. Where calm and chaos coexist in separated parts of the album, the manipulation of field recordings remains a constant thread throughout the ten-track sequence. From sounds of shattered glass flying around to clinging waves of synth; it twists a recognisable world into a unified glitched universe.

Minimal Collective’s premiere pick is ‘Fog and Light’. Nestled in calmness, this ambient track slowly carves a path through a widening space, as stuttering voices derail from its route.
