The 4-tracked EP ‘Inside Voices’ by The Soulscaper, released on the Melbourne-based Animalia sublabel Cirrus, offers a sentimental, familiar musical journey through the distinctive charms of Australia's south-eastern hub. The album is a poignant follow-on from the musical outputs of Animalia, staying true to the main label's deep, cinematic and melodic style.
Animalia's exploration of the lesser-known artists of Melbourne continues with the launch of the new sublabel Cirrus, focusing on non-club, downtempo, ambient and otherworldly sounds from local Australian artists.
This first release comprises four non-linear, modular-improvised soundscapes from Melbourne/Naarm local The Soulscaper, a side project of Eugene Pascal who is a member of Animalia's electronic trio Ménage. On ‘Mansion on the Hill' the artist’s dreamy modular loops catch a slowly slumbering, propulsive rhythm.
