Prague’s Amphibian Records resurfaces with Induction Texture, the solo debut from Kobayashi Maru. The EP distills cybernetic echoes into a synthetic pursuit, part swamp crawl, part signal chase, with Abo Abo and A Strange Wedding each offering their warped reimaginings along the way.
A core member of Prague’s Amphibian collective, Kobayashi Maru moves between producing, DJing, and performing live as part of the duo DDAT. He’s closely tied to the city’s Ankali nightclub, where he’s involved behind the scenes and behind the decks.
On Induction Texture, Kobayashi Maru steps out solo with a cryptic blend of synthetic layers that shift underfoot. The sound moves somewhere between sci-fi sound design and modern, psychedelic-infused techno, slipping up and down the tempo scale. It’s swampy, somehow psychoactive dance music from the other side of the oscillator.
The premiere cut, Huorn, coils patiently. Percussive claps reverberate like sonar pings, steering the rhythm through a murky ecosystem. What begins as a sinuous drift slowly accelerates into a kinetic chase. Its arrangement is a standout, balancing tension and momentum with uncanny precision. One to shift the energy, wherever it lands.
